Sept. (2007)
Maintenance of the lake and its canals throughout River Bridge
requires constant attention. Periodically a maintenance boat treats
the shorelines for excessive vegetation. At other times floating
trash (thankfully rare) is removed. The man-made lake and canals
(linked with controls to the regional canal system) was stocked
with grass eating carp - some of which have grown to three
feet. Swimming, fishing , and motor boats (except for small electric
motors) are not permitted. These prohibitions are strictly enforced.
For several months both times, two nearly 6' alligators have lived
in our waterways. Officials will not remove them until they reach 6
feet. (Rationale unclear.) A portion of the River Bridge waterways
is pictured at philosophy-religion.org/welcome. |
